The design challenges posed by the existing grade forced the home owners to utilize the driveway as the entry area to the front door. This problem along with a steep slope of the residency makes it difficult to enter and exit the premises by car or foot. The design solution brought on, simplified the landscape elevations to allow a flow in and out of the residency. The new entry walkway leads directly from the front door and to the elevated sidewalk. The custom poured on site concrete pad walkway and concrete steps make it easy to avoid the driveway, and also create a grand entrance. A raised planter bed adjacent softens the property edges with a mixture of native and low water planting. Contrasting the concrete pavers is artificial lawn that gives this design a modern sustainable look. In a subtle move a new fence partitioned the front yard from the driveway, this is not typical of homes, allowing the home owners dog to roam free in the front yard. The driveway becomes a safer place to enter and exit and is designed with custom poured in place concrete in a modern layout.
